An Introduction

A faithful Catholic fiction writer might find themselves stuck in a no man’s land in the publishing world. Theirs is a worldview not considered appealing to a mass enough market for the big mainstream publishers. Most Catholic publishers don’t regularly publish fiction.

Flannery O’Connor said, “Success means being heard and don’t stand there and tell me that you are indifferent to being heard.  You may write for the joy of it, but the act of writing is not complete in itself.  It has to end in its audience.” I’m inclined to agree. The faithful Catholic fiction writer needs the chance to be heard. The Cape and Swordstick Press was established for that very purpose. To publish the voice of unheard Catholic fiction.

We are a mustard seed and are hoping that with much tending, prayer and maybe a miracle or two, we will grow into a semi-respectable plant. GK Chesterton, Flannery O’Connor, Venerable Fulton Sheen and Saint Francis de Sales, pray for us.
